BIRD NETTING

Review by Timothy E. Nona, 2010-05-17

Bought as a deer barrier but this is so flimsy, it is nothing more than bird netting

Bird Netting NOT deer fence

Review by LiveDirt, 2010-05-07

This netting is identical in every way to product honestly labeled as bird netting, other than the 7X100 dimension. It would be fine for that purpose, but it should not be sold as deer fence, which is much heavier. I should have known by the price, but the detailed product description is lacking the sort of information that would have confirmed my suspicions.

did the trick and I was pleased

Review by Lindy, 2010-05-02

Many have said here that it is flimsy- true to some extent --but that serves my purpose here too- lets light in and keeps the deer/groundhogs/etc. from eating my crops- it also "blends" in the garden and dosen't look like a "sheeted" mess -- I just cleaned out my garden yesterday after the winter- I hadn't taken the netting off last fall-- and I had to tug hard to remove from the plants that grew into it after my laziness last fall and it was not a problem as to tearing- so all in all I say this is a very good product and is very cost effective and economical! I am back to buy for this year!

Best the first year

Review by S. R. Schnur, 2009-11-04

Light weight deer fencing is good to keep out critters, but it does have some problems. I was distressed to find a dead toad who had caught himself in the mesh. We also snagged a bird once. After using it one year, it has many tears, and one can't use a string trimmer near it as it slices right through. On the other hand, it is the best protection for ornamental shrubs and flowers in the summer because it is invisible. Who would want a fence that hides the ornamental plants?

I think that, used alone, it won't keep out a desperate deer, but it works to keep them discouraged. I have a four foot chain link fence and a large dog. The fencing I use in my vegetable garden is to keep the dog out. The dog keeps the deer from jumping inside the chain link fence. Outside the chain link fence, in the front yard, is where I have ornamental plants.

I use rebar to pound in the ground, and I tie the fencing to it with twine.

I have found that snow fencing is much less vulnerable to tearing and stands up for year after year. Snow fencing is only four feet high. The advantage for this is that it easier to handle. The disadvantage is that deer easily can jump over a four foot fence. It is a good idea to also use repellent at the same time or, for a vegetable garden two fences - one inside the other.

It is possible to find snow fencing that is not orange, but not elegible for Amazon Prime.

Disappointing

Review by J. Carlson, 2009-09-11

The deer in my neighborhood have no trouble leaping over this fence. When they do, they usually rip it off the post. This fence does not stop the deer from eating my vegetables, as stated by the manufacture. It is merely a bump in the road that is easily overcome by hungry deer. Do not buy this product if you think it is going to save your tomatoes from the deer.

I may try raping my evergreens with it this winter. Maybe it won't be a complete waste of money?
